Dining and Nightlife
Playa de Coco offers a wide range of restaurants, whatever your palate and budget.
Whether you prefer informal meals or fine seafood dinners, Playa de Coco has
a treat for you. Most restaurants are open air, and serve wonderful local fresh
pineapple, mango, coconut, and watermelon. Locally raised chicken and fresh
seafood in abundance include shrimp and lobster, mahi mahi, tilapia, and sea
bass. The pina coladas made from fresh local coconut are not to be missed. A
night on the town often includes salsa and meringue dancing, karaoke, or gaming
at the local casinos.

For an informal lunch near the beach visit a local “Soda” where
you can sample casados, the traditional meal of rice, beans, plantains, chicken
and vegetables. Or Papaguayo Seafood, where fresh fish is served daily and lobster
specials are offered. Watch the sunset over drinks from the spectacular cliffside
Ocotal Beach Resort, or enjoy a romantic dinner oceanside from Picante Restaurant.
Other local fare includes Italian, Cajun, Mexican and there is even a German
bakery/restaurant outside of town, a great place for breakfast.
